Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
Dental implants are intended to blend in among your natural teeth.
One of the advantages of this is that you can brush and floss them the same as you would with your regular teeth. While implants never get cavities (and never need root canals!), you still want to continue brushing and flossing to keep your natural teeth and your gums healthy.
Implants will require good gum health for the longevity of the implant. Receeding gums, gum pockets that become deeper, loss of bone in the jaw, can all risk the implant becoming loose from the gum and jaw, resulting in a failed implant.
We recommend your commitment of hygiene visits at least every 6 months with our Oral Health Therapist or Hygienist to ensure your gums and jaw stay at optimum health for life.
